16 Swimmers & Divers Earn CSCAA Academic Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - A total of 16 swimmers and divers from the University of North Carolina have been chosen for individual academic honors for the spring semester from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America. The awards were announced Monday.
The 2014 CSCAA Individual Scholar All-America awards are supported by Nike Swim.
Nine Tar Heels were chosen to receive the CSCAA Individual Scholar All-America Award and another seven were tapped for the Honorable Mention Scholar All-America Awards.
UNC's first-team selections included junior Patrick Myers and freshman Jack Nyquist from the men's team and freshman Abby Fisher, sophomore Ally Hardesty, sophomore Annie Harrison, senior Meredith Hoover, sophomore Emma Nunn, senior Katie Rechsteiner and senior Carly Smith from the women's squad.
Carolina had seven individuals named to the honorable mention team. Four men were chosen - freshman Josh Beals, sophomore Dominick Glavich, junior Tyler Hill and senior J.T. Stilley. The women tapped for honorable mention honors were junior Kelly Corish, freshman Caty Hulsey and sophomore Erin Purdy.

CSCAA Individual Scholar All-America Award
The Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a cumulative, or term grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the academic term coinciding with their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CCCAA Swimming and Diving Championships and have qualified for and competed at the Championship.
The Honorable Mention Scholar All-America Award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester, or cumulative average, and have achieved a "B" time standard but did not qualify or compete in their respective national championship. Divers qualify by competing at their respective championship qualifying meets, zones or NCAA preliminary rounds.
