Loeb, Carter Compete In Las Vegas Pro Event

North Carolina women's tennis players Hayley Carter and Jamie Loeb competed this week at the Red Rock Pro Open in Las Vegas, Nev.
Carter, ranked No. 3 in NCAA singles, won her first round match in the qualifying draw over Chiara Scholl of the United States by scores of 6-4, 6-3.
She then took on Ema Burgic of Bosnia. Carter won the opening set 6-1, but could not keep the momentum in her favor as she dropped sets two and three by identical 6-4 scores.
Top-ranked Loeb fell 6-2, 6-2 to Lauren Embree of the United States in her first round match.
The dynamic sophomore duo, along with Caroline Price, Whitney Kay, Kate Vialle and Ashley Dai, will next compete at the ITA All-American Championship that runs Sept. 27-Oct. 5 in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Loeb is the defending singles champion.
