National Team Set For Champions Challenge

NAPLES, FLA.—The United States Women's National Senior Team, featuring eight current or former University of North Carolina players, will play its first exhibitions of 2015 this weekend in Florida. The eight Tar Heels on the squad are the most of any school in the nation.
The eight Tar Heels on the roster are attacker Becky Lynch (UNC class of 2012), midfielders Maggie Bill (2017), Emily Garrity (2013) and Laura Zimmerman (2012), defenders Jenn Russell (2010), Sloane Serpe (2014) and Courtney Waite (2015) and goalie Caylee Waters (2017).
The national team will face 2014 NCAA champion Maryland and national runnerup Syracuse in four split-squad scrimmages on Saturday and Sunday January 17-18 at the 10th annual Champions Challenge at Barron Collier High School in Naples, Fla. The senior team will bring a 39-player training roster this weekend.
The 25-player under-19 national team will play Stetson University and Rollins Universit this weekend as well.
