POSTGAME NOTES
CAROLINA 68, VIRGINIA TECH 53
• The Tar Heels are now 14-4 overall, 4-1 in the ACC and 7-2 at the Smith Center.
• Carolina leads the series, 65-13, including a 12-3 mark since the Hokies joined the ACC.
• The Tar Heels have won 10 of the last 11 and 28 of the last 31 games against the Hokies.
• Tonight's win is the 149th career win for Roy Williams in ACC regular season and ACC Tournament games, tying Georgia Tech's Bobby Cremins for the fifth-most in league history.
• The win is Williams' 320th as Carolina's head coach, which is seventh-most in ACC history. Virginia's Terry Holland is sixth with 326.
• Williams has won 738 games, 17th-most in NCAA history. John Chaney is 16th with 741.
• Brice Johnson had 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds and posted his third double-double of the season and the fifth of his career.
• Johnson tied his career high with six offensive rebounds (also had six against East Carolina on 12/7/2014).
• Freshman Justin Jackson had 16 points, a season-high seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks. The 16 points are the most he has scored in ACC play and his top production since he had 18 at Davidson on November 22nd.
• Jackson is now 28 for 49 from the floor in the last seven games (.571).
• Virginia Tech made nine three-pointers and eight two-point field goals. That is the first time an opponent has made more threes than twos since Boston College did that exactly one year ago today (Jan. 18, 2014, when the Eagles made 11 threes and 10 twos).
• Carolina did not attempt a free throw in the first half. That's the first time UNC did not get to the line in a half since the first half against NC State on Feb. 26, 2013.
• Carolina out-rebounded the Hokies, 49-22, including 16-4 on the offensive boards. The rebounding margin of plus-27 is the largest this season (previous was +25 vs. UNCG).
• Carolina had an edge in second chance points of 15-4. That is the 14th time in 18 games (and 10th time in the last dozen games) that UNC has outscored the opposition in second chance points.
