NATIONAL RANKINGS
North Carolina is ranked No. 12 by the Associated Press and 11th in the coaches poll this week. Duke is No. 15 according to the AP and 13th in the coaches poll.
TAR HEEL TRENDS...
• North Carolina is averaging only 14.8 turnovers per game, the fewest number since the 1995-96 team coughed up the ball only 12.9 times a game.
• Opponents are shooting only 28.5% from beyond the three-point arc, the third best figure in the ACC. Only Duke at 27.1% and Louisville at 28.4% has been better this season.
• UNC is a perfect 14-0 this season when leading at halftime. The Tar Heels are also 14-0 when allowing less than 70 points and 12-0 when outrebounding its opponents in 2014-15.
• Danielle Butts led Carolina in scoring for the first time in her career on Thursday with 12 points against NC State. She has played 119 games for UNC.
• Sophomore Allisha Gray has started 50-straight games for the Tar Heels.
• UNC is 3-0 this season in games decided by less than four points.
• Jamie Cherry has an 11-to-4 assist-to-turnover ratio over the last four games. She had a season-high seven assists and zero turnovers last Sunday at Clemson.
• Senior Latifah Coleman hauled in a career-high seven rebounds at NC State.
• UNC has limited four of its last six opponents to less than 40 percent shooting from the field.
• Jessica Washington is averaging 10.8 points and shooting 40.0 percent (T11th in ACC) from three-point range in ACC games only.
• Allisha Gray's 10-for-10 effort at the free throw line against Notre Dame (Jan. 15) is the top performance in the ACC this season.
• Stephanie Mavunga's 92.9% (13-14) showing against ETSU on Jan. 2 is the best field goal percentage of the year in the ACC.
• Carolina has overcome a double-digit deficit seven times over the last two seasons, including falling behind by 13 points on Thursday at NC State.
• UNC boasts a roster of eight players that average at least 6.0 points per game.
