Tar Heels In The NFL - Week Five
October 13, 2015 | Football
By Alex Zietlow and Turner Walston
Giovani Bernard
Bernard is quickly becoming the first down back in Cincinnati, out-producing the initial first-option Jeremy Hill. The former Tar Heel ran for 80 yards on 15 carries and caught five passes for 21 yards, while Hill only earned 13 yards on eight carries. Bernard's versatility to both run and catch out of the backfield is increasing the offense's productivity significantly; the Bengals average the second-most yards per game in the NFL behind the New England Patriots.
Eric Ebron
Ebron did not suffer any structural damage to his knee Monday night against the Seattle Seahawks; however, he did not practice all week leading up to the game this week against the Arizona Cardinals. Ebron has recorded 15 receptions for 179 yards in the four games he has played this season for the Detroit Lions. His team is currently 0-5, sitting in last place of the NFC North.
Connor Barth
Former Tar Heel kicker Connor Barth signed on with Tampa Bay after spending the preseason with the Denver Broncos. Barth was a perfect 3-3 from 35, 45 and 47 yards in his Buccaneer re-debut. Tampa earned its second win of the season by defeating Jacksonville, 38-31 on Sunday.
