Brynn Walker Signs With North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL – Brynn Walker has signed a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to join the University of North Carolina women's golf team in the 2016-17 academic year. Walker, from St. Davids, Pa., is Golfweek's 23rd ranked golfer in the class of 2016 and is Polo Golf's 33rd ranked golfer in the class of 2016.
“We are very excited to have Brynn join our Tar Heel family,” head coach Jan Mann said. “She has a tremendous amount of national tournament experience and success and is ranked among the top recruits in the class of 2016. Brynn is not only a strong golfer but also an excellent student. She is also a wonderful individual with very strong character. As a coach, I am excited to have her as a member of our team.”
Walker's strengths on the course is her driving and short game. She has an average drive distance of 275 yards and averages 175 yards with her 5-iron.
"It wasn't very long after seeing the campus and meeting with Coach Mann I knew I wanted to be a Tar Heel,” said Walker. “It just fit me like a glove. From the coaching staff to the team and academics it seemed flawless. I can not wait to play under the guidance of Coach Mann and Coach Buchmann and begin a new journey at such a special place.”
Walker has won 17 individual and team tournaments since 2010. Walker led her team to a state championship in October with a 73, and also captured the individual state title with a 74-76, 150 aggregate. She was also the PIAA 3A State Champion in 2014. She was the 2015 All Delco Player of the Year.
Walker made it to the quarterfinals of the 2015 U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball at Bandon Dunes in Bandon, Oregon. She lost 3 and 2 to Robynn Ree/Hannah O'Sullivan who ended up winning in the finals.
Walker qualified for the Junior PGA Championship with a 67 in the second round of the qualifier. She also posted a 67 in the Honeybrook Invitational in August. Walker also carded a 69 in the second round of the 2013 Pennsylvania State Junior Championship.
Walker boasts a 4.00 GPA, was named to the distinguished honor roll each year and is a member of the National Honor Society.
