JV Hoops Trounces Guilford, 89-44
November 18, 2015 | JV Men's Basketball
You play hard. The Tar Heels started off strong in the first half, jumping to a 20 point lead in the first ten minutes and extending it to 30 by halftime. Junior Mike Hutter said getting back on the court for a game is when the all the fun starts. “For three weeks now we've been working hard in practice and scrimmaging each other, but actually being able to play a real game again is really great.” Hutter dropped 11 points early on in the game, making him one of the leading scorers at the half. Freshman Jeremy Werden also showed that his hard work has paid off; the first-year started his Tar Heel debut with 18 points, making him the team's leading scorer of the night.
You play smart. Even after many fouls from Guilford's side throughout the game, the Tar Heels continued to play strong defense, forcing multiple turnovers without committing many of either themselves.
You play together. Despite only having three weeks of practices before Friday's game, the team seems to have already found their niche. Head Coach C.B. McGrath said he was impressed with the team's performance. “The guys worked hard tonight, and even more importantly they worked together. No one was selfish. They played as a team and they moved the ball well, and I think that the score board reflected that.”
The Tar Heels will take on the Mount Olive JV team in the Dean Dome next Sunday, November 15th, at 1:00 p.m.
