UPDATE: The 2016 First Pitch Dinner is sold out! Thank you for your support of Carolina Baseball.
CHAPEL HILL --- For the eighth consecutive year, supporters of the University of North Carolina baseball program will have the opportunity to kick off the upcoming season with a memorable evening at the Diamond Heels' First Pitch Dinner, scheduled for Jan. 30, 2016, at the Loudermilk Center For Excellence at Kenan Stadium on the UNC campus.
This year's event will celebrate the anniversaries of two important teams in Carolina baseball history - the 1966 College World Series team and the 2006 CWS squad. Under the guidance of legendary head coach Walter Rabb, the 1966 team was the second from UNC to advance to Omaha. The 2006 unit featured seven future Major Leaguers and kicked off a decade of unprecedented success in Chapel Hill.
Players from the 2006 team confirmed to attend include Adam Warren, Chad Flack, Andrew Carignan, Josh Horton, Tim Federowicz, Rob Wooten, Daniel Bard, Robert Woodard, Luke Putkonen and Andrew Miller.
The 2016 First Pitch Dinner will begin at 6:45 p.m. with an MVP Reception with special Carolina baseball guests as well as a silent auction and meet and greet session with the 2016 Tar Heels. The dinner program will get underway at 7:30 p.m.
Silent auction items include a set of signed baseballs featuring the 2015 New York Mets starting rotation, a 2015 Mets World Series memorabilia package, signed memorabilia from the 2016 Carolina CWS team, including signed balls from Andrew Miller and Adam Warren, and two floor seats to the UNC-Pitt men's basketball game on Feb. 14.
This year's live auction will feature some of the most unique and exciting items in the history of the event. Highlighting the live auction items are a signed Andrew Miller UNC jersey, a signed Matt Harvey World Series jersey and a Subway Series MLB fan experience that includes round-trip airfare and hotel for two games of the Yankees-Mets series in August.
