CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina senior offensive guard Landon Turner has been named a first-team All-America by the The Associated Press.
Turner, a native of Harrisonburg, Va., helped pave the way for the Tar Heels to rush for more than 222 yards per game and rank 11th in the country in scoring offense. Turner graded out at 90 percent or better in 11 of 13 games and won ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors four times.
Carolina is one of 11 teams in the country to rush for more than 200 yards per game and pass for more than 250. Running behind Turner, tailback Elijah Hood rushed for 1,345 yards and quarterback Marquise WIllams ran for 867.
Turner is the second All-America guard at UNC in the last four seasons. In 2012, guard Jonathan Cooper was a consensus first-team All-America.
