Previewing Virginia Tech

North Carolina begins Atlantic Coast Conference play on Sunday when they host the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Sunday's doubleheader at Anderson Stadium will begin at 1 p.m., with the second game scheduled to start at 3 p.m. The final game of the series will be played on Monday at 3:30 p.m.
The Tar Heels come in to the meeting with a record of 9-4, most recently winning four straight games at the Eagle Classic II in Statesboro, Ga.
Junior Aquilla Mateen leads the team and is fourth in the ACC batting average at .452 and is tied for third in the conference with 19 hits. Senior Amber Parrish is second in the ACC with 16 runs batted in.
Scouting the Hokies
Virginia Tech comes into this weekend's series with a record of 13-1, the lone loss coming at the hands of Jacksonville state two weeks ago.
Third baseman Kelsey Mericka leads the ACC in home runs and runs batted at eight and 18 respectively. Pitcher Maggie Tyler has recorded 66 strikeouts this season, third in the conference.
