March 31, 2015 | Softball
Chapel Hill, N.C. – The University of North Carolina softball team travels to Athens, GA for a showdown with the no. 9 Georgia Bulldogs on Wednesday night.
Carolina (24-9, 9-2) comes into this meeting fresh off a sweep of ACC foe Virginia. In game three of that series, Kristen Brown belted her 17th home run of 2015 to break the UNC single-season home run record. The junior currently leads the NCAA in long balls.
As a team, North Carolina ranks fifth in the country with 60 dingers.
The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
Scouting The Bulldogs
No. 9 Georgia is 29-8 but was just swept by no. 11 Tennessee over the weekend, ending a five game win-streak for the Dogs. They rank second in the country for team batting average at .380. The top three hitters for UGA, sisters Sydni and Cortni Emanuel and Paige Wilson, all rank in the top 50.
Georgia leads the all-time series against Carolina 8-2. The teams last met in the 2012 NCAA Tournament twice, with the Bulldogs winning both contests.
The last time the Tar Heels topped UGA was a 2-1 victory in eight innings on the road back in 2003.
