Three Tar Heels Earn NFCA All-Region Honors

LOUISVILLE, KY –The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its all-region teams on Thursday morning and the list for the top players in the Southeast Region included three North Carolina softball players.
Junior Kristen Brown was named to the NFCA All-Southeast Region First Team. The shortstop belted 22 home runs in 2015 to break the UNC single-season record and brought her career total up to 45, breaking the Carolina career record. She also set a new school single-season runs batted in mark with 65 while slugging .877.
Seniors Jenna Kelly and Lauren Walker were announced as members of the NFCA All-Southeast Region Third Team.
Kelly, a 2014 All-Southeast Region First Team selection, batted .317 through the regular season and is third on the team with 37 RBI. The first baseman belted 11 long balls while shining in the field as well with a .995 fielding percentage.
Walker, the Tar Heels' designated player, is enjoying a breakout senior season as she finished the regular season third on the team and seventh in the ACC with a .385 batting average as well as sixth in the conference in slugging percentage at .712.
