Holness Makes Jamaica's Copa America Prelim Roster
May 14, 2015 | Men's Soccer
Holness, the only college player listed on the roster, is no stranger to international competition for his home country. He competed in a friendly against Canada back in September, and previously served as team captain for the U17 World Cup team and vice captain for the U20 side.
A first team All-ACC pick as a sophomore in 2014, Holness started all 22 matches in the midfield, scoring twice and assisting on seven other goals for the Tar Heels.
The final 23-man roster for the tournament must be submitted to CONMEBOL, South American soccer's governing body, no later than June 1 – 10 days prior to the start of the tournament.
This year's edition of the Copa América will take place in Chile from June 11-July 4. Jamaica have been placed in Group B, where they will face Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. The Reggae Boyz will also be participating in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup this summer, set to take place from July 7-26.
