UNC Trio Recognized As USILA Scholar All-Americas
May 18, 2015 | Men's Lacrosse, Academics
Three members of the Tar Heels' 2015 men's lacrosse team have been named United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Scholar All-Americas.
All three UNC players - senior defenseman Jake Bailey, senior attackman Jimmy Bitter and senior attackman Joey Sankey - were also named All-Atlantic Coast Conference in their senior years.
In 1989, the USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III. The Scholar All-Americas are recognized at the annual Lacrosse All-America Banquet.
Carolina has had five selections to the USILA Scholar All-America Team in the past five seasons. Defenseman Ryan Flanagan was named to the 2011 team and midfielder Ryan Creighton was chosen for the 2015 team.
