May 21, 2015 | Men's Tennis
WACO, TEXAS - University of North Carolina sophomore Ronnie Schneider ended his 2014-15 campaign with a loss in the NCAA Tournament singles second round Thursday at the Hurd Tennis Center at Baylor University.
Schneider dropped a 6-3, 7-5 decision to 42nd-ranked Lloyd Glasspool of the University of Texas. Glasspool was coming off a thumping of the #3-ranked player in the country in Wednesday's first round and carried him momentum through against UNC's Schneider.
Schneider, a native of Bloomington, Ind., finished his sophomore campaign with a 30-16 record. He played one of the nation's most difficult singles schedules with 26 of his 46 matches against nationally-ranked opponents. He went 12-14 in those matches.
Carolina will return a strong contingent as its heads into the 2015-16 campaign. The team says goodbye to three valuable seniors - Oystein Steiro, Esben Hess-Olesen and Andrew Gores.
