Six Tar Heels Earn Summer League All-Star Nods

Six members of the North Carolina baseball team earned all-star recognition from their respective summer leagues, including two each in the Cape Cod Baseball League and the Cal Ripken Summer League. Adam Pate and Spencer Trayner were selected to represent the Harwich Mariners in the Cape, Jason Morgan and Logan Warmoth were picked from the Baltimore Redbirds in the Ripken League, Brian Miller was a starter in the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game and Ryder Ryan made the SCBL All-Star game from the SBA Bones.
Brian Miller, Holly Springs Salamanders
Miller has been one of the best players in the Coastal Plain League for new team Holly Springs. The rising sophomore leads the league in hitting (.415), on-base percentage (.481) and hits (68) through July 21, and his 31 stolen bases rank second in the CPL. Miller started the all-star game for the Salamanders, which are current in third in the second half standings in the east.
Jason Morgan, Baltimore Redbirds
Appearing primarily as a starting pitcher, Morgan has a 4-2 record with a 1.68 ERA in 37.1 innings. The rising sophomore right-hander has struck out 28 batters against just 11 walks and tossed a nine-inning complete game on July 11. Morgan tossed a scoreless inning in the Cal Ripken All-Star Game representing Baltimore, which has clinched a division title and a spot in the playoffs.
Adam Pate, Harwich Mariners
After starting the summer as a temporary player with Orleans, Pate moved to a full-time role with Harwich and has emerged as one of the league's top hitters. Pate is hitting .278 in 32 games and currently leads the league in with 16 stolen bases. The rising junior is also tied for fourth in runs scored (19) and tied for third in doubles (9).
Ryder Ryan, SBA Bones
Ryan has been a two-way star for the SBA Bones, which have clinched the No. 2 seed in the SCBL playoffs. The rising sophomore hit .283 with three homers and six doubles in the regular season, with both totals ranking in the top five in the league. On the mound, Ryan was 1-1 with a 3.37 ERA in seven appearances.
Spencer Trayner, Harwich Mariners
Trayner is a perfect 3-0 in 10 appearances out of the Harwich bullpen. The rising junior righty has 13 strikeouts against just three walks in 15.1 innings. The Cape Cod All-Star Game is set for July 25 in Wareham.
Logan Warmoth, Baltimore Redbirds
Warmoth hit leadoff and started at short in the Cal Ripken All-Star game and has had a strong summer with Baltimore. The rising sophomore is hitting a team-best .330 through July 21 for the Redbirds, who have clinched a division title. His batting average ranks second in the league and he also ranks 11th in on-base percentage (.419).
