Summer Ball Dispatches: Logan Warmoth
July 3, 2015 | Baseball
Tar Heel Fans,
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer back in Chapel Hill. This summer I am playing for the Baltimore Redbirds of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League. I am playing alongside my teammates Zack Gahagan and Jason Morgan and we are so blessed to have the opportunity to play in this league and continue to get better.
In this league we have host families that open their house for us to stay and I feel very fortunate to have such a great family that has made me feel right at home. I have another player that is staying with me who plays at Wake Forest. Along with playing with my two UNC teammates, I have also been fortunate to play with other ACC players who I have become close to.

This summer has been a tremendous learning experience both on and off the field. From being coached by former Baltimore Orioles outfielder Larry Sheets, to having Tim Kurkjian of ESPN talk to us, to meeting my idol Cal Ripken Jr. I even got to face my brother Tyler, who pitched for the Bethesda Big Train. But for me, meeting Cal was definitely the highlight of the summer. I was born on the day (September 6, 1995) that Cal broke Lou Gehrig's record for most consecutive games played (2131), so it's always been a dream to meet him.
Even though this has been a great summer, I have really missed playing in front of the best fans in the nation and can't wait to get back to school and try to help us get back to Omaha!
Go Heels!
