August 15, 2015 | Women's Golf
BROCKTON, Mass. -- Three former North Carolina golfers competed in the first round of the W.B. Mason Championship on Friday. Katherine Perry led all former Heels with a 2-over 73.
Perry finished the day with two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey. Perry had her two birdies on the front nine, but added the double bogey to shoot even par on the front. Two bogeys in a row on the back gave Perry a 2-over 37.
Allie White was not far behind Perry at 3-over 74. White's play was a little more eratic with an eagle, two birdies, five bogeys and a double bogey. White's eagle came on the par-5 No. 2, but finished out the front with three bogeys. White came back with two birdies on the back, mixed in with a couple bogeys and a double.
Casey Grice was a victim of one bad hole. Besides a triple bogey on No. 2, Grice was 2-over for the 17 other holes. She had back to back birdies on Nos. 11 and 12, but had three consecutive bogeys to offset it.
Play will continue tomorrow and run through Sunday.
