JV Heels Down Vance-Granville CC, 119-69
January 20, 2016 | JV Men's Basketball
The Tar Heels returned to the Smith Center bright and early on Saturday January 16, starting off the new year with a big win over Vance-Granville Community College. It'd been nearly six weeks since the JV team's last game, but they proved the long break from the court was no problem as they trounced the Vanguards 119-69.
Coach C.B. McGrath was very impressed with his team's performance. "Morning games are hard honestly, and sometimes you don't know what to expect.. But our guys brought a lot of intensity and set the standard early in the game. As usual, they were unselfish and moved the ball well. It was a great way to come back after such a long break." The Tar Heels held the lead for the entire game and with a 57-25 lead at the half, all thirteen UNC players had scored. Sophomore Lucas Bouknight led the team with 18 points, 12 of which came from behind the arc. He agreed that it was a great way to come back for the second part of their season. "You could tell in our last couple games that we were getting really tired, so it was a nice way to come off of the break."
The JV team's next game will be Jan. 20 at 4 o'clock against Fork Union Military Academy.
