Navy Wins 2-0 In Game One Of Fall World Series

Chapel Hill, N.C. - Pitching dominated the night as the Navy squad scored two runs in the seventh inning to take a 2-0 win over Blue in Game One of the Fall World Series. The two teams combined for just three base hits.
Kyle Datres drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Brendan Illies for the first run of the seventh, then a Laney Orr sacrifice fly scored Adam Pate for the final 2-0 margin.
Austin Bergner picked up the win by giving no runs on just one hit while striking out six in 6.0 innings of work. Trevor Gay picked up the save after giving up no runs and no hits while striking out four in 3.0 innings of relief.
Robbie Peto started for Blue and threw 5.0 scoreless innings while giving up no hits. Taylor Sugg suffered the loss.
Adam Pate and Cody Roberts each singled for Navy, while Jake Holtzapple's single was Blue's only hit.
The teams will square off again on Saturday at noon before wrapping up the series at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.
