Carolina Notes
• Now 95-12 in season openers.
• Has won 82 of its last 87 season openers.
• Now 13-1 in first game under head coach Roy Williams.
• Now 15-1 against Tulane.
• Now 5-0 on Veterans Day.
• Now 15-2 in New Orleans and 19-3 in Louisiana.
• Had 14 assists on 17 field goals in the first half as the Tar Heels shot 54.8 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes.
• Assistant coach Steve Robinson was not on the bench as he is unable to travel at this time due to a blood clot in his right leg. Director of Operations Brad Frederick moved into an assistant coach's role for tonight's game. Robinson will be on the bench for Sunday's home opener vs. Chattanooga.
Tar Heel Player Notes
• Justin Jackson and Joel Berry II each had career scoring highs -- Jackson with 27 (previous 25 at Northern Iowa) and Berry with 23 (previous 21 at Virginia).
• First time Berry and Jackson have scored 20 in the same game as Tar Heels.
• Justin Jackson scored 27 points, his sixth career game with at least 20 points. It was Berry's fourth career 20-point game.
• Jackson tied his career high with nine field goals.
• Jackson tied his career high with four three-pointers. He also made four against Virginia in the 2015 ACC Tournament.
• Kennedy Meeks had a career-high 15 rebounds (previous high 14 against NC State).
• Tony Bradley scored 10 points. He is the first Tar Heel to score in double figures in his first game since Kennedy Meeks had 10 points against Oakland in the 2013-14 opener.
• Sophomore guard Kenny Williams made his first career start.
• Senior forward Isaiah Hicks made his seventh career start.
• First half scoring leaders: Joel Berry II, Isaiah Hicks and Justin Jackson each scored 12.
• Jackson and Hicks both went 5 for 5 from the floor in the first half (two of Jackson's field goals were three-pointers).
Roy Williams Notes
• The Tulane game was his 993rd as a college head coach.
• Is 784-209 overall and 366-108 at Carolina
• Is 26-3 in opening games at UNC and Kansas.
• Is 93-50 in road games as Carolina's head coach.
