Solid First Day For Aney, Carter At National Indoors

Top ranked and fourth-seeded Carter won 6-3, 6-0 over No. 117 Marie Faure of William & Mary, while 31st ranked and eighth-seeded Aney took down No. 13 Andie Dikosavlejevic of Auburn in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
Sixth seeded freshman Sara Daavettila fell in the three sets to No. 72 Lily Miyazaki of Oklahoma, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.
In the afternoon, Aney and Carter breezed past Diana Bogalii and Rosalie Willig of Lynn University, 6-1, 6-3, in the second round of doubles play.
Friday could prove to be another full day for the Tar Heel tandem. Singles is scheduled for second round and quarterfinal matches, while Aney and Carter are assured of a quarterfinal doubles match against No. 1 ranked Mami Adachi and Aldila Sutjiadi of Kentucky.
The Wildcat duo is no stranger to the Tar Heels. Last year in this event, Carter and Whitney Kay defeated Adachi and Sutjiadi in the doubles championship match.
Carter will face seventh ranked Maegan Manasse of Cal, while Aney takes on #89 Josie Kuhlman of Florida. The second round matches are slated for Friday at 9 a.m.
Daavettila has been moved to the consolation bracket, and is matched up with Pepperdine's 48th ranked Mayar Ahmed at 11:15 a.m.
