November 5, 2016 | Football
CHAPEL HILL --- Following a bye week, No. 18/17 North Carolina returns home for the first time in nearly a month to face ACC Coastal Division rival Georgia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 5. Carolina's homecoming game against the Yellow Jackets will kick off at 12:30 p.m. and will be televised by the ACC Network.
Carolina heads into the stretch run of 2016 with three home games over the final four weeks of the regular season. In addition to Saturday's game against Georgia Tech, the Tar Heels play host to The Citadel on Nov. 19 and NC State on Nov. 25. Carolina's only remaining road game is Thursday, Nov. 10 at Duke. Carolina will not leave the state for its final four regular season games.
Carolina completed a challenging October slate with a 3-1 mark that included wins at No. 12 Florida State, No. 16 Miami and long-time rival Virginia. Its only loss came at home to Virginia Tech in miserable weather conditions due to Hurricane Matthew.
In its most recent action two weeks ago, Carolina (6-2 overall, 4-1 ACC) won its seventh straight over Virginia, 35-14, as quarterback Mitch Trubisky threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns. Georgia Tech (5-3 overall, 2-3 ACC) is coming off a 38-35 win over Duke. Georgia Tech quarterback Justin Thomas had 264 yards passing and two touchdowns and rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
