I'm A Tar Heel: Nick Williams

To All The Carolina Fans Out There,
It has been an indescribable honor and pleasure to represent our wonderful university over the past four years on Fetzer Field. My journey has been filled with so many great memories, and unfortunately, it has to come to an end.
One thing we always stress with the guys on the soccer team is "We are family." This extends beyond the players and coaches to all the many people that are there to support us during the good times and the bad times. I want to recognize all the fans who sit in the stands at Fetzer Field every game day, regardless if it's blistering hot or freezing cold, if we win or lose, to cheer us on and always have our backs. YOU are part of the family. That is why all of Carolina athletics are among the most competitive programs in all the country. You have given me the experience that I have always dreamed of since I started playing soccer.
When people talk about UNC, the academics are equally as prestigious as the athletic programs. As a first year student, I was unsure of what I wanted to study, but the beauty of Carolina is that there are so many resources to help you find your niche. I eventually settled into the Geology Department at Mitchell Hall. I've always had a deep fascination with sciences and geological studies just about covers all fields in its own unique ways. All the support I received to help me balance academic and athletic responsibilities over the years has given me the confidence and essential skills that is expected from all Tar Heel graduates.
It's with a heavy heart that I have to leave such a caring and supportive community. I have to leave my legacy behind in hopes that i have had a positive impact on both the soccer team and my academic department. One thing is for certain though, the legacy of a Tar Heel fan can never be challenged, and I am proud to add to that legacy for the rest of my life.
Thank you all and Go Heels!
