February 17, 2016 | Men's Tennis
The North Carolina men's tennis team has earned the No. 1 spot in the latest ITA Division I National Rankings, announced Wednesday by the ITA. It's the Tar Heels' first-ever appearance atop the ITA poll.
UNC moved up from No. 7 after winning the ITA Division I National Men's Team Indoor Championship, held Feb. 12-15 in Charlottesville, Va. The Tar Heels downed then-No. 1 Virginia on Monday for the title, fighting back from a 2-0 deficit to win 4-2.
Carolina is 10-0 this season, with six wins over teams ranked in the top 15.
Next up is a stretch of five consecutive home matches, beginning with Wofford on Sunday at 1 p.m.
