UNC's ACC Opener Moved To Indoor Facility At Duke
April 22, 2016 | Men's Tennis
UNC's opening match in the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Championship has been moved to Duke's indoor facility and will be played at 5:30 p.m. The third-ranked Tar Heels were set to meet No. 30 Georgia Tech at Cary Tennis Park at 3, but heavy rain forced the day's remaining matches to be moved and rescheduled.
Virginia and NC State will play at Duke's Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center at 2:30 p.m., prior to the Tar Heels' match. Wake Forest and Notre Dame will play at UNC's home facility, Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center, at 2:30, followed by Florida State vs. Georgia Tech.
Tar Heels are seeded fourth in the field and received a double-bye into the quarterfinals. Georgia Tech, the fifth seed, beat Louisville 4-1 on Thursday to advance to Friday's action.
The Tar Heels and Yellow Jackets met just a week ago, on April 15. UNC, celebrating its Senior Day at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center, won 4-3 in the final home match of the regular season, mounting a comeback after dropping the doubles point and four of six first sets in singles.
Admission is free for all of Friday's matches. The address for Duke's facility is:
