UNC In 15th At NCAA Stanford Regional

STANFORD, Cali. – The University of North Carolina women's golf team shot 18-over par 302 on Thursday and are in 15th place at the NCAA Stanford Regional.
“Overall we hung in there,” head coach Jan Mann said. “But the last hole really cost us. We have two days left and we aren't out of it yet. They will play hard!”
Kelly Whaley finished round one as the low Tar Heel shooting 2-over par 74. Whaley had one birdie and three bogeys in her round. Leslie Cloots and Elizabeth Mallett posted 4-over par 76s. Lexi Harkins finished with an 8-over 80 while Bryana Nguyen shot 11-over 83.
USC leads the 18-team field at 3-over 287. Virginia is in second at 4-over 288. Host Stanford is in third at 5-over par. Texas Tech and Michigan State are tied for fourth at 7-over.
