Holman & Sankey Named MLL All-Stars

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Former University of North Carolina All-Americas Marcus Holman and Joey Sankey have been named to the list of 40 players who will compete in the 2016 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game. They are two of the eight attackmen named to the roster.
The All-Star Game will be held on July 9 at Titan Stadium at Cal State University Fullerton in Fullerton, Calif.
Holman, who played at Carolina from 2010-13, was named to the MLL All-Star Team for the second straight year. He has played in eight games so far for the Ohio Machine in 2016. He leads the team in scoring with 37 points on 28 goals and nine assists.
Sankey, the 2015 MLL Cascade Rookie of the Year, is a first-time MLL All-Star. He is currently in his second season with the Charlotte Hounds. He leads the Hounds in scoring this season with 27 points in six games played. He has tallied 15 goals and 12 assists. Sankey was a Tar Heel from 2012-15.
The final two teams for the July 9 All-Star Game will be chosen the night prior, July 8, in a draft decided by this year's MLL Ultimate Fan Fantasy contest winners. The game will be televised exclusively on CBS Sports Network at 7 p.m. EDT.
The 2016 All-Star teams will be coached by New York Lizards head coach Joe Spallina and Ohio Machine head coach Bear Davis. The roster features the best players from the league's nine teams. Players were nominated and voted to the All-Star Game roster by head coaches and general managers representing each of the League's nine teams. The overall roster consists of eight attackmen, 14 midfielders, 10 defenders, four goalies and four face-off specialists.
