
Six Tar Heels Tapped For All-ACC Academic

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Six players from the University of North Carolina's 2016 NCAA champion men's lacrosse team were named Monday to the All-ACC Men's Lacrosse Academic Team.
Each of the six Tar Heels were chosen for the team for the second time in their careers. The list includes.
Patrick Kelly, Sr., Midfielder, Timonium, Md. biology major
Stephen Kelly, Jr., Midfielder, Lutherville, Md., business administration major
Jake Matthai, Sr., Midfielder, Baltimore, Md., communications major
Austin Pifani, Jr., Defenseman, Roslyn, Pa., media and journalism major
Shane Simpson, Jr.. Midfielder, Hamilton, Ontario, business administration major
Michael Tagliaferri, Jr., Midfielder, Danville, Calif., business administration major
Both Kellys as well as Pifani and Tagliaferri were all named to the Team in 2015. Matthai made the Team in 2013 as a freshman and Simpson was honored as a freshman in 2014.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
