Summer Ball Dispatches: J.B. Bukauskas
July 4, 2016 | Baseball
Tar Heel fans,
First off, I would like to say that I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer. As many of you know, many of the Diamond Heels are playing summer ball all up and down the east coast. I have had the great privilege of continuing to play with and against many of my teammates during the beginning of the summer. I spent the first two weeks of the summer playing for the Chatham Anglers in the Cape Cod Baseball League. All the great things I have heard about the league were confirmed after two short weeks on the Cape, from the level of competition to the beautiful setting. It was very apparent that the caliber of play was high and that many of my teammates were playing their butts off and having great summer seasons in the process - two of which I got to throw against were my roommates Logan Warmoth and Zack Gahagan. It's safe to say that after the game we played against each other they will have bragging rights for quite some time!
My time in the Cape playing with and against my Tar Heel teammates was a blast but it was cut short due to an invitation to play for the United States Collegiate National Team. It is truly an honor to be presented with the opportunity to wear our nation's colors in international competition. Playing with some of the best players and coaches college baseball has to offer has been incredible. We started our tour playing several games in southern California. Some of the games were played at Dodger Stadium and Angel Stadium. As for right now, we are currently preparing to play Chinese Taipei in Taiwan. The experience has been incredible and I am looking forward to the rest of the tour in Japan and Cuba.
With all of that being said, I am most excited to get back to school and see my teammates and begin to prepare for next year's season. I know that everyone is working extremely hard playing summer ball and getting better in order to ensure a fantastic 2017 season. I can't wait to get back to Chapel Hill!
Go Heels!
