Griffin, Register Begin Play At U.S. Amateur

University of North Carolina juniors Ben Griffin (Chapel Hill) and William Register (Burlington) begin play today in the 2016 United States Amateur Golf Championship.

The premier amateur event is being played at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

Griffin tees off at 1:20 p.m. Register plays at 2:15 p.m. Both players tee off on the North Course.

Griffin earned All-ACC and honorable mention All-America honors as a freshman. Register earned PING all-region honors as a sophomore.
