Tar Heels Wrap Up Weekend Play In Cary

Tar Heel freshman Josh Peck reached singles and doubles finals in his first collegiate tournament over the weekend, finishing as the Blue bracket runner-up and the overall doubles runner-up in play at the 2016 Duke James Bonk Invite at Cary Tennis Center Sept. 16-18.
Peck teamed with junior Robert Kelly in doubles. In addition to the doubles final, Kelly, the top seed in his bracket, reached the consolation final in the White bracket. After falling Friday in his first match, Kelly won twice on Saturday to reach the final.
Kelly and Peck, seeded second in the doubles draw, won Friday and in Saturday's first match. In the finals, they fell 8-2 to a team from Auburn.
In the Black bracket, freshman Ladd Harrison and senior Chad Hoskins both won Friday but fell early on Saturday.
Next up for the Tar Heels is the ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Oct. 7-9. Prequalifying begins on Oct. 1, with qualifying on Oct. 4.
