Bruening Selected ACC Player Of The Week
September 27, 2016 | Men's Soccer
Bruening scored four goals, one shy of the school record and the most by a North Carolina men's soccer player in 14 years, in a 5-0 shutout of No. 16 Boston College on Friday night to keep the Tar Heels a perfect 3-0 in ACC play. The sophomore forward from Hamburg, Germany, came off the bench for the first time all season, and scored his four goals in a mere 41 minutes of action.
Ferrell posted two shutouts last week as Wake Forest, as the Demon Deacons set program records with its seventh consecutive shutout and a stretch of 728:28 without allowing a goal. The redshirt senior goalkeeper from Westlake, Ohio, made five saves against Florida International on Tuesday night in a 2-0 non-conference victory. Against NC State, Ferrell tallied four more saves to bring his total for the year to 19 without allowing a goal.
No. 4 North Carolina visits third-ranked Syracuse on Friday at 7 p.m.
