Schneider Named ACC Player Of The Week

UNC senior Ronnie Schneider has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the league. Schneider, a business major and team captain, led the Tar Heels to two home court wins last week in ITA Kick-Off Weekend play.
In a 4-0 win over Notre Dame Friday and a 4-1 victory against Vanderbilt Saturday, Schneider picked up wins in singles (No. 1) and in doubles (No. 2). In doubles, he teamed with senior Jack Murray to help UNC claim the point in both matches. In singles, he earned two straights-sets wins, each of which proved to be the clinching point of the match.
The Tar Heels are 7-0 this spring and head to Illinois this weekend for their first road match. They'll take on the Illini in Champaign on Saturday evening. The team's next home match is Feb. 11 against Ole Miss.
Last weekend's wins earned the Tar Heels a spot in the 16-team field for the ITA National Indoor Team Championships, Feb. 17-20 in Charlottesville, Va. UNC is the defending champion in the event
