Tar Heels Return From Successful MRB Scholarship Game in Baltimore
October 16, 2017 | Men's Lacrosse
UNC and Ohio State scrimmaged Saturday night.
BALTIMORE, MD. - The University of North Carolina and Ohio State staged a successful fall scrimmage this past Saturday at the Calvert Hall High School in Baltimore. All proceeds from the game went to the Michael R. Breschi Scholarship Fund at the Ohio State University athletic program. The Breschi scholarship fund honors a Ohio State player each year and the scholarship honors the memory of UNC head coach Joe Breschi's son, Michael, who passed in 2004 while Breschi was the head coach of the Buckeyes.
"It was an amazing MRB weekend for both UNC and Ohio State in Baltimore, celebrating Michael and hearing from this year's recipient of the MRB scholarship, OSU Captain Johnny Kelly," said Tar Heel head coach Joe Breschi. "I'd like to thank Coach Nick Myers and the Ohio State athletic department for their continued support of Mike's scholarship & helping my family keep Mike's memory and spirit alive with this extraordinary weekend.
"Our goal was to get a lot of young guys experience on the road against a very good opponent in Ohio State. We had a chance to play a ton of young guys which will help us gain the needed depth for a great spring schedule ahead in 2018. I was extremely pleased with the energy, toughness and grit this group showed throughout the night."
The Tar Heels prevailed by an unofficial score of 11-9. Inside Lacrosse's Terry Foy was on hand for the game and filed a complete game analysis as well as video on the Inside Lacrosse site.
