Three Tar Heels Selected To TDS Best XI Teams

Cam Lindley, Alan Winn and John Nelson all earned postseason accolades from TopDrawerSoccer (TDS) after helping the Tar Heels advance to its second consecutive NCAA Men's College Cup. Lindley was selected to the first team, Winn was named to the third team and Nelson was a first team all-freshman selection.

Lindley, the TDS Freshman of the Year last season, was named ACC Midfielder of the Year, first team All-ACC and a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist during his sophomore campaign. He led the team in total points (27) while scoring seven goals and recording 13 assists. His 13 assists were second in the ACC and the most by one player in one season under Head Coach Carlos Somoano.

Winn had a terrific senior season for Carolina as he was also named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist and first team All-ACC while leading the team in goals scored with 11. Named the TDS National Player of the Week on Sept. 26, he finished second in the ACC in goals per game (0.69) and third in points per game (1.50).

Nelson started all 22 games for the Tar Heels in his freshman season and was selected to the All-ACC Freshman Team. The Medina, Ohio, native finished third on the team in minutes played with 1,923 while recording one goal and one assist.
