NORTH CAROLINA POSTGAME QUOTES
Boston College 88, North Carolina 77 February 9, 2017
North Carolina Head Coach Sylvia Hatchell
Opening Statement
“In my 43 years, I've never had a team make nine threes on me in a ten minute period. That's got to be a record. Even with them doing that in the second half, we scored 51 points, and they scored 47.
In the second half, I thought we went after them. We did a lot of good things offensively. We did some good things, even with them making all those threes. I'm sure that's a record for them. [Taylor Ortlepp] she's shooting 18 percent for the year from the three. It was their night. Good shooting cures a multitude of sins, and they were busting threes from all over the place. They scored 45 points from the three and 15 from the foul line.
We're a little bit banged up. Paris [Kea] got a pretty good hit out there today. Stephanie [Watts], you can tell her shot's off because she's got a bruised knee. But she's out there. She's giving us all she's got. Destinee [Walker] isn't out there. She's got a sore knee, but we're hoping to have her back here soon. I was proud of these kids for hustling out there and really going after them in the second half. We created some of our offense off of defense.
The end of that first quarter there, we got down. We've got to get ready for Syracuse. We go up there Saturday. They're an outstanding team. But the good thing is, we did beat them last year. They made it to the Final Four, and we did beat them here. We may be a good matchup. Our kids are looking forward to going up there and playing them. Again, I look at the rosters of the ACC. They have a very veteran roster. They start four seniors, I believe. They're a veteran team.
Our kids continue to learn and get better. I'm just really proud of these two [Cherry and Kea] especially. They have to carry the load for us. Paris, her shot usually falls better than it did tonight. We've got to get Stephanie and Destinee back out there. If we can get everybody back out there healthy, we can play with these kids. It's hard to when we're not at full strength. And the rebounding continues to hurt us. The rebounding has been our Achilles heel all year. We're a work in progress. I want these kids to keep looking hard and look at what they did well tonight and realize that Boston College had the best shooting night maybe in the history of their program. We get ready for Syracuse and keep on working.”

On carrying the team
“I feel like me, Paris, and Stephanie, we have to make up for when Destinee is not out there. It is pretty tough, but at the same time, we have to get the job done.”
Paris Kea, G
On her shots not dropping
“I think I just had an off night. None of the shots that I usually make, even around the basket, were falling. Then, I had two charley horses. The first one didn't really bother me too much. Then the second one kind of got me. So I definitely would say that it messed up my shot too.”
