Carolina resumes team competition tomorrow in Hawaii for the 32nd Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational Tournament.
The tournament features 7 of GolfWeek's top 35 teams in the country, led by No. 12 Wake Forest. Wake Forest, along with NC State, will give Carolina a benchmark this week to evaluate where they stand against the rest of the ACC, because as of Tuesday the ACC Championships will be exactly one month out.
This week's lineup has been the most consistent one for the Tar Heels this season. Sophomore Kelly Whaley and freshman Brynn Walker have started all six events this season. Senior Leslie Cloots, junior Lexi Harkins, and junior Bryana Nguyen have each contributed to the team score in five of the six tournaments this year. Overall, this will be the fifth event of the season where these five comprise the starting lineup.
Play on Tuesday and Wednesday will begin at 8:00 a.m. Hawaiian Time (2:00 p.m. Eastern). The teams will play 36 holes Tuesday in a shotgun format before finishing with another 18 hole shotgun on Wednesday.
Oklahoma State is the defending champion and Thanya Pattamakijask is the defending medalist.
