Tar Heels Win At Louisville In Regular-Season Finale

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – North Carolina earned its second win of the weekend over a ranked Atlantic Coast Conference team Sunday, wrapping up regular-season action with a 6-1 victory at No. 39 Louisville.
With the win, the Tar Heels finished conference play 10-2, a program high for regular-season ACC wins. Carolina earned the No. 3 seed in the upcoming ACC Men's Tennis Championship, which begins Wednesday in Rome, Ga. UNC, 23-3 overall, received a bye into the quarterfinals and will open play Friday (April 28) at 10 a.m.

Coming off a 4-3 win on Friday at No. 20 Georgia Tech, the Tar Heels headed for Louisville and the regular-season finale. UNC won the doubles point with 6-1 victories at No. 1 (Jack Murray and Simon Soendergaard) and No. 2 (Robert Kelly and Josh Peck).
In singles, the Tar Heels won all six first sets and rolled to straight-sets wins on four courts. Murray, on Court 4, was the first to finish, beating George Hedley 6-0, 6-2. On Court 3, Kelly beat Nicolas Rouanet by the same scores to give Carolina a 3-0 lead.
The clinching UNC point came from sophomore Anu Kodali on Court 6, where he beat Clement Filho 6-2, 6-2. Classmate Blaine Boyden then won on Court 5, 6-2, 6-1 over UL's Brandon Lancaster.
The Cardinals picked up a point at No. 2 singles. UNC's Simon Soendergaard won the first set 6-2, but Louisville's Parker Wynn won the second 6-3 to send the match into a 10-point tie-breaker. Wynn won that 10-3 to claim the win.
The No. 1 match also went to a 10-point tiebreaker, but Tar Heel Ronnie Schneider came out on the winning side. After claiming the first set 6-2, the senior fell 4-6 in the second before rebounding to win the tiebreaker 10-3.
