No. 4 Carolina Takes On Boston College This Weekend

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. --- No. 4 North Carolina heads back out on the road for the second straight weekend when the Tar Heels visit Boston College Saturday for the first of three at Commander Shea Field at 2:30 p.m. Carolina is 23-6 after an extra-innings win over ECU on Tuesday in Chapel Hill. Boston College improved to 9-17 on the year with a 5-1 win at Northeastern in the opening round of the 2017 Beanpot Wednesday in Brookline.

NORTH CAROLINA-BOSTON COLLEGE SERIES HISTORY
• North Carolina is 21-2 all-time against Boston College in a series that began just 11 years ago with the Eagles' move to the ACC.
• UNC won two of three games in 2014, the last time the two teams met in Chestnut Hill. Trent Thornton pitched a complete-game shutout in a 7-0 Friday win before BC rallied for a 10-9 win on Saturday. Carolina secured the series with a 12-2 victory on Sunday.
• The Tar Heels swept the Eagles in 2015 in Chapel Hill. UNC is 14-0 all-time against the Eagles in Chapel Hill with series sweeps in 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2015.

• Carolina ranks second in the ACC and sixth nationally in pitching with a staff ERA of 2.45.
• UNC started ACC play with series wins over divisional foes Virginia, Georgia Tech and Miami. This marks the first time the Tar Heels have won series against those three in the same season since 2009.
• The Tar Heels swept Florida State for the second time in program history and the first time ever in Tallahassee.
• Carolina allowed five runs or fewer in each of the first 23 games of the 2017 season. That was the longest such streak in 106 seasons. The Tar Heels went 25 straight without allowing more than five across the 1910 and 1911 campaigns.
• Redshirt freshman closer Josh Hiatt has 10 saves, tops in the ACC and third-most nationally. Hiatt is already tied for eighth in the UNC single-season saves list.
• Junior J.B. Bukauskas ranks first in the ACC and 13th in the NCAA in ERA with an 0.96 mark over 47.0 IP. He ranks in the top 10 nationally in strikeouts (70), K/9 (13.40) and is 11th in WHIP (0.740).
