Throughout the summer, GoHeels.com will bring you updates from Carolina baseball players in various summer leagues across the country. Check back and follow on Twitter (@DiamondHeels) for the latest.
Tar Heel fans,
I hope everyone is enjoying their summers so far. I am fortunate enough to be playing for the Harwich Mariners in the Cape Cod League this summer. It is always fun getting to play with and against some of the best players in the country. There are 11 other Tar Heels in the Cape with me this summer spread across four different teams. Cole Aker and I are living together with our wonderful host family which has hosted other Tar Heel players in the past.
Congratulations to J.B., Logan and Brian on all being selected in the first round of this year's MLB Draft. I know they have each worked extremely hard to accomplish this goal. I'm so excited to see one of their dreams come true and look forward to following their careers down the road.
I am enjoying the Cape Cod experience and learning how to improve my craft from my coaches and teammates this summer. I am working a summer baseball camp a couple days a week at the Mariners home field. It is fun getting to help the young kids get better each and every day. I've also enjoyed eating the delicious seafood that Cape Cod has to offer.
We are excited to get back to the Bosh and start preparing for next season. This year left us with a sour taste in our mouths and we will come back ready to work to achieve our goal of once again returning Carolina baseball to Omaha. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer, and even though it seems the next baseball season is far away it will be here before we know it. Thank you for all of your support.
Go Heels!
