Carolina Visits Virginia In A Top-10 ACC Matchup

The best matchup in ACC men's soccer this weekend pits No. 7 North Carolina versus ninth-ranked Virginia on Friday night in Charlottesville, Va., with a scheduled 7 p.m., kickoff from Klöckner Stadium. The game will be televised by the Regional Sports Network, which includes Fox Sports South locally in the Triangle, and streamed on ACC Network Extra.
SERIES WITH VIRGINIA
Virginia owns a 38-34-10 edge in the all-time series that dates back to 1947. However, UNC is 6-1-3 in the last 10 meetings with the Cavaliers, but did come out on top, 2-1, last year for their first win over the Tar Heels since 2008. Additionally, five of the last 10 matches have gone to extra time, with Carolina 2-0-3 in those games.

Senior Alan Winn scored twice for North Carolina and classmate and fellow Texan Zach Wright handed out three assists in a 4-1 victory over George Washington on Tuesday night in Cary, N.C. David October opened the scoring festivities and Jeremy Kelly closed it out with a second-half strike in the 52nd minute. Carolina won its fifth-straight game and is now 7-1 on the season.Â
