UNC And Winthrop Clash Tuesday In Greensboro

GREENSBORO, North Carolina - No. 7 North Carolina makes its fourth and final trip to the Triad this season to face Winthrop on Tuesday at UNCG Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m.

SERIES WITH WINTHROP
Carolina, 6-1 all-time against Winthrop, has won six in a row in the series since the Eagles picked up a 4-3 win in the first head-to-head meeting back in 1984. The last meeting was a 6-0 Tar Heel victory in the first round of the 2002 NCAA Championship. Ryan Kneipper set a program record with five goals in the win over the Eagles on Nov. 22, 2002 in Chapel Hill.Â

Jelani Pieters scored the game winner in the 95th minute to send No. 7 North Carolina to a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory at ninth-ranked Virginia on Friday night from Klöckner Stadium. Carolina extended its winning streak to six games, and snapped a 21-match unbeaten streak at home for the Cavaliers, who fall to 1-1-1 in the league and 5-1-1 overall.
Alan Winn scored the equalizer in the 58th minute, giving him seven goals in only six games this season.Â
