No. 5 Tar Heels Face W&M, Richmond On Road Saturday

No. 5 North Carolina will get its highly-anticipated 2018 dual match schedule underway Saturday with a pair of matches in Williamsburg, Va. The Tar Heels face host William & Mary at 10 a.m. and later Richmond at 3 p.m. Both matches will be played at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.Â
Tar Heel fans can watch all the action live via PlaySight. The advanced sports video and analytics technology provides fans with six fully automated HD cameras for live streaming. Both matches will be streamed by PlaySight on TribeAthletics.com/TennisLive.
Carolina got its spring season jump started last weekend in Las Vegas at the Freeman Memorial Tennis Championship hosted by UNLV. The doubles team of Jessie Aney and Alexa Graham reached the semifinals, while in flight one singles, both Aney and Graham advanced to the quarterfinals.
The Tar Heels are the only team in the country to boast three players ranked inside the top-20 according to the ITA. The trio includes Alle Sanford at No. 9, sophomore Makenna Jones at No. 11 and Aney checks in 18th.
Sophomore Sara Daavetilla is 38th, and junior Chloe Ouellet-Pizer is 124th.
In doubles, Aney and Graham are leading the way at No. 18, followed by Daavettila and Sanford at No. 37, Jones and Ouellet-Pizer at No. 51, and junior Marika Akkerman and Ouellet-Pizer at No. 53.
Next week will be busy one at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill. UNC hosts East Carolina and Davidson on Tuesday at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
On the weekend, both Carolina's men's and women's programs will host the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The women welcome William & Mary, Illinois and Winthrop to town.Â
Carolina faces Winthrop on Friday at 1:30 p.m., while the Tribe and Fighting Illini square off at 11 a.m. On Saturday, UNC will play at 3:30 p.m. and the other match is slated for 6 p.m.
