Tar Heels Cap Regular Season At No. 25 ODU
October 27, 2018 | Field Hockey
Top-ranked UNC (16-0, 6-0 ACC) plays its final game of the regular season on Sunday at noon, taking on No. 25 Old Dominion at L.R. Hill Sports Complex in Norfolk, Va.
It's UNC's first action in a week, since a 5-2 win over No. 4 Duke last Sunday.
After the game against ODU, the Tar Heels look ahead to the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, which UNC will host at Karen Shelton Stadium Nov. 1, 2 and 4. As the top seed in the seven-team field, Carolina gets a first-round bye and will open play Friday (Nov. 2) at noon in the semifinals.
UNC leads the series with ODU 46-35-2. In last year's matchup, the Tar Heels won 3-1 on Oct. 1 at UNC's home-away-from-home in Durham. The last meeting in Norfolk was on Oct. 29, 2016, when UNC won 2-0.
Should UNC win on Sunday, it would mark the first time since 2007 and just the third time in program history that the Tar Heels have finished the regular season without a loss. The first time was in 1995, when the Tar Heels finished 24-0. UNC also was 24-0 in 2007.
