Helping In The Community: Tar Heel Men's Lacrosse Fall 2018
October 4, 2018 | Men's Lacrosse
UNC men's lacrosse players have amped up community service efforts this fall.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Members of the 2018-19 University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team have continued to excel in the area of community service this fall as the first semester of the 2018-19 calendar year reaches its halfway point.
Coach Joe Breschi's program has historically been among the leaders in terms of community service hours registered each year and that has proven to be the case again this year, particularly in light of the weather and physical challenges that have affected the Tar Heel State since Hurricane Florence made landfall last month.
Here is a a list of several projects team members have been a part of this fall or will soon be participating in.
Chapel Hill Ronald McDonald House - Helping the staff with property improvements and maintenance.
Pen Pal Program - Team members are matched with a elementary or middle school student and exchange multiple letters over the course of the academic year.
UNC Children's Hospital - Team members visit and spend time with pediatric patients at the hospital who are battling various diseases
IFC Community Kitchen - Team Members served food to the homeless in the Chapel Hill Community
Vs. Cancer Event - Team Members have raised over 100K for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and shave their heads every year in support of kids battling the diseases
