• The Tar Heels beat Western Carolina for the second straight season. The two teams had never met in football prior to 2017.

• UNC scored a season-high 49 points. Its previous high was 38 in a win over Pittsburgh on Sept. 22.

• The Tar Heels gained a season-high 654 yards. Carolina passed for 358 yards and rushed for 296, the fourth time this year rushing for more than 200 yards.

• The 654 yards are the fifth most in a game in UNC history and the third most under head coach Larry Fedora.

• True freshman TB Javonte Williams rushed 17 times for 93 yards and three touchdowns, all career bests. It was the first time a Tar Heel had three rushing TDs in a game since Elijah Hood did it against Georgia Tech in 2016. Williams also caught two passes for 38 yards.

• TB Jordon Brown rushed 13 times for 79 yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 30 yards.

• WR Toe Groves made two catches for 77 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown reception, the first of his career.

• QB Nathan Elliott's 54-yard touchdown pass to Groves in the second quarter was the longest scoring throw of his career.

• Elliott became the 15th quarterback in UNC history to reach 3,000 career passing yards. The redshirt junior has 3,148 career passing yards and moved past Oscar Davenport into 14th on the all-time Tar Heel passing chart.

• QB Manny Miles completed a 38-yard touchdown pass to TE Jake Bargas on the final play of the second quarter. It was the first touchdown for both Miles and Bargas.

• Miles became the ninth different Tar Heel to attempt a pass in 2018, with six (Elliott, Cade Fortin, Chazz Surratt, Jace Ruder and Dazz Newsome) completing passes.

• True freshman DB Trey Morrison had a team-high seven tackles, including his second sack of the year.

• The UNC defense combined for a season-high 12 tackles for loss. Morrison, DL Xach Gill, DL Jake Lawler and DT Jason Strowbridge had sacks for the Tar Heels.
