POSTGAME NOTES

• This was the second time Carolina and NC State played an overtime game. In 1998, the Tar Heels won, 37-34, in Charlotte on a Na Brown touchdown reception.

• Carolina went 0-2 in overtime this year. On October 20, Syracuse beat the Tar Heels, 40-37, in double overtime in the Carrier Dome. UNC is 4-6 all-time in overtime games, including 1-3 at Kenan Stadium.

• Carolina out-gained the Wolfpack, 429-406. It was the third consecutive game and the sixth time in 11 games this season the Tar Heels gained at least 400 yards. It was the fifth time this season UNC out-gained the opposition.

• Freshman QB Cade Fortin went the distance at quarterback and finished 19 of 40 for 276 yards and his first career touchdown. He came into the game 13 of 25 for 112 yards and no touchdown passes in three previous appearances. He also rushed for 15 yards and his first collegiate touchdown (from 1 yard) in today's game.

• Fortin completed 7 of 21 passes for 61 yards in the first half and 12 of 19 for 215 in the second.

• Freshman TB Javonte Williams led UNC with 83 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. He scored five TDs in the last three games. Williams rushed for 176 yards in the last two games after rushing for 48 in the first nine games.

• WR Beau Corrales had a 37-yard touchdown catch. It was his longest reception of the season and his second scoring grab of the year.

• DE Malik Carney led Carolina with 10 tackles and forced a fumble. He also had a sack to finish with 6.5 for the season and lead the team in that category for the third consecutive season.

• LB Cole Holcomb made six tackles today and finished the year as Carolina's leading tackler with 105. This marks the third consecutive year that Holcomb has lead the team in tackles.

• DL Tyler Powell finished with a career-high nine tackles.

• After today's defeat, Carolina leads the series, 66-36-6.

• Larry Fedora is 79-62 all-time as a head coach, including 45-43 in seven seasons at Carolina.

• NC State's Reggie Gallaspy tied the record for most rushing touchdowns in a game against UNC. Ohio State's Pete Johnson also scored five in 1975. They are the only two opponents to score five touchdowns and 30 points in a game against UNC.
