North Carolina Announces 2019 Men’s Lacrosse Schedule

UNC hosts eight regular season home games
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina men's lacrosse team will host eight regular season home games in Chapel Hill as well as playing host to three games in the 2019 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament as the squad's 2019 season schedule was released by head coach Joe Breschi Thursday.
Sites for games on the Chapel Hill campus will be announced at a later date and television details for all games (home and away) will also be announced at a later date. Those details are still being finalized.
The Tar Heels have seven games scheduled against teams which qualified for the 2018 NCAA Tournament, including five games against squads which were seeded in last year's national tourney. Games against 2018 tournament teams include contests (seeds in last year's tournament in parentheses) against Maryland (#1), Syracuse (#8), Johns Hopkins (#5), Duke (#4), Notre Dame (#7), Virginia and Denver.
After playing two scrimmages in January against Jacksonville and Loyola, UNC will open its 2019 regular season in a game against Mercer University to be played at Atlanta's Centennial High School on February 2. The Tar Heels will follow the season opener with six successive home non-conference games against Furman, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Denver, Marist and Bucknell between February 9 and March 12.
After a neutral site game versus Cleveland State in Baltimore, UNC will face five 2018 NCAA Tournament teams in a row to finish the regular season, going up against Maryland, Duke, Virginia, Syracuse and Notre Dame on successive Saturdays.
Carolina will play host to three games in the 2019 ACC Tournament. The Tar Heels will host a game on April 25 between the #4 and #5 seeds based on the final regular season standings. The semifinal games will be played in Chapel Hill at 2 and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 with the top three seeds automatically advancing to the semifinals. The championship game is slated for Saturday, May 4 at the site of the highest remaining seed in the tournament.
